Fifth grade Fouse Elementary student Philip Lubinsky performed in his second Pianorama on October 24.

Practice makes perfect.  Nowhere is that more evident than in Philip Lubinsky’s house, where the Fouse Elementary School fifth grade student set his sights on performing at Pianorama 2015.  For months prior to auditioning in September, Lubinsky studied the audition pieces with his instructor to make sure he was not only playing the right notes, but playing with the appropriate dynamics.  He was paired with a student from Olentangy schools, and they had to learn to play together.

Lubinsky performed in concert in Weigel Hall at The Ohio State University on October 24.  Twenty pianos and 40 children playing together as an orchestra and they all had to play in sync under the command of a conductor.  If that’s not remarkable enough, this is the second Pianorama Lubinsky has played in.  He was thrilled to be chosen again, according to his parents, John and Mouki Lubinsky.

Pianorama is a multi-piano event held every other year.  Elementary through advanced students perform duets in one of nine groups, determined by playing level.  Participating students learn how to follow a conductor while gaining valuable audition, rehearsal, and concert experience.  Proceeds benefit the Central East District’s Summer Scholarship Fund and other student activities.  For further information, please visit www.ceomta.org/student-events/pianorama.
