At the Westerville City Schools Board of Education meeting held Monday evening, June 8, the Westerville Central High School varsity baseball team was honored for having finished second in the State tournament.  After ending a regular season of play with a 20-6 record, the team defeated Logan, Ashville Teays Valley and Newark in the District tournament.  In a Division 1 Semifinal, Central took down Pickerington North.  In the Regional Final, they defeated Olentangy Liberty; and in the State Semifinal, they triumphed over Cleveland St. Ignatious.  Despite experiencing defeat by Cincinnati Moeller in the State Finals on June 7, the Board said the team’s remarkable and historic season of play would never be forgotten.  The Board and Superintendent thanked them for representing the school district and community with pride and distinction.
