Throughout April and May, students in the Genoa Middle School advanced 6th grade Language Arts classes competed in a 6th grade Battle of the Books Competition in the Media Center.  They read a preset list of seven books including such titles as The Trap, Small Steps, Close to Shore, and The Graveyard Book and wrote questions about the books.  Then, the classes formed teams and competed in a Jeopardy–style contest until one team was declared the class winner.  The winning teams then competed to be declared the 6th grade champion.  In this first time Genoa battle, the winning team was from Tracy Jados’ 7th period class.  Second place went to

Jados’ 5th period class.  This opportunity was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Mrs. Jados, the Language Arts teacher, Media Specialist Deanna McDaniel and Gifted Education Facilitator Debbie Pellington.
