Second grade students from Kelly Balaz’s class at Hanby Magnet School got to meet their “Leaping Letters” pen pals on Tuesday afternoon, May 12.  This marks the third year letters have been exchanged between Westerville students and senior citizens.  Balaz says, “This is a great way to connect two parts of the community who may otherwise not get a chance to know each other.”  The pupils and Westerville residents wrote back and forth throughout the school year.  When they finally met, they read together, painted, shared computer presentations, enjoyed snacks, and made some wonderful memories.  Helping to coordinate the exchange was Marie Corbitt, Outreach Program Librarian at the Westerville Public Library.
