Students at Annehurst Elementary were recently asked by third grade teacher Candi Amadio to write Principal Earl Rahm a persuasive letter for their writing assignment.  One child asked him to allow the school to have a pajama day.  He agreed, but challenged her to turn it into a fundraiser for a charity.

Since one of the school’s third graders has cystic fibrosis, the kids decided to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Three theme days were held where money was collected from participants, and in the end, they were able to donate $500 for cystic fibrosis research.  In the process, students learned more about the disease from the father of the afflicted child, who came to the school and shared what she has to go through each day.
