Students show they're cute as kitties during “Old McIntyre Had a Farm.”

On Thursday, March 26, first grade students at Hawthorne Elementary School brought the charm and fun of the farm to life in their barnyard musical entitled, “Old McIntyre Had a Farm.”  The children worked hard preparing for the show – learning the songs and choreography in music, creating farm drawings to decorate the school in art, and exploring the lyrics in their classroom reading blocks.  Under the direction of music teacher Evan McIntyre, they took the stage dressed as horses, pigs, dogs, cows, and ducks to perform for their classmates during school and for more than 400 friends and family members in the evening. From songs about cute kitties and comedic pigs to groovin’ chickens and brave puppies, the show consisted of 14 songs, including arrangements of the American folk song, I Bought Me A Cat, and Ella Fitzgerald’s jazz recording of Old MacDonald.  “It was truly a fun filled and exhilarating musical production,” said McIntyre.
