Families packed Huber Ridge Elementary School on Thursday evening, March 19, for All Arts Night, a free, fun-filled event celebrating music and the arts.  A number of activities were offered.  Students enjoyed making various musical instruments like guitars, kazoos and drums, using recycled items.  They also had the opportunity to create comic strips and sing at into an open mic at the “Huber Café.”  A Gallery of Art was hung in the hallways for participants to admire and a bottle cap mural was created.  The “Strike a Pose” photo booth gave children the opportunity to place themselves in famous works of art.  A selfie station was also set up and in the gym, and youngsters were encouraged to dance to different music from the five decades Huber Ridge has been in business, all part of the school’s continuing 50th anniversary celebration.  Students with an education rich in the arts have higher GPAs and standardized test scores and lower dropout rates.  These benefits occur regardless of socio-economic status.
