Students open a gold sealed envelope to reveal the winner in the “Friend Songs” category.  

 

 

First grade celebrities and their fans flooded the Alcott Elementary School library on Friday evening, March 6, for the Alcott Grammy Awards, coordinated by teacher Jim Ledford.  The stars, dressed in their finest attire, entered the ceremony on a red carpet lined with shouting paparazzi.  They performed a whopping 22 songs for the enthusiastic audience, and were accompanied by Ledford on guitar and harmonica; Casey Wright on drums; and Rich Robinson on bass.  Grammys were awarded in the categories of Friend Songs, Math Songs, Social Studies/Science songs; Fun Songs, Seasonal Songs; and Reading Songs.  At the end of the show, refreshments were offered and CD’s of the songs performed were sold.  This is Where I Live was professionally recorded at Blue Moon Studios in Columbus.
