Having qualified for the first quarter 2014-15 Renaissance Awards, 225 Blendon students celebrated their academic and community service achievements by enjoying an afternoon of bowling at Gahanna Lanes on November 6.  To participate, pupils must meet high standards in academics, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit.

Each quarter, at an awards ceremony, qualifying students receive both a certificate for their accomplishment, and tangible rewards donated by various local businesses.  This time, each child received coupons from First Watch, Buffalo Wild Wings, Skyline Chili, and Little Caesar’s Pizza.

In addition, a wide variety of wonderful raffle prizes were given, also donated by local businesses and PTO parents.  They included Renaissance t-shirts from the Blendon PTO, gift cards from Anthony Thomas, City BBQ, Cold Stone Creamery, Columbus Square Bowling Palace, Dairy Queen, Fazoli’s Italian Restaurant,  Little Caesar’s, Marcus Theatres,  Marie Scrambler’s, Noodles & Company, Ohio State School of Cosmetology, Old Skool Skateboards, Rita’s Italian Ice, Soccer Plus, and the Westerville Recreation Center.  The Grand Prize was a $50 Gift Card from Star Lanes Bowling.

Following the awards presentation, students spent the rest of the day enjoying bowling, miniature golf, and video arcade games at Gahanna Lanes Bowling.

2014-2015 marks the 5th year for the Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, which would not be possible without the continued support of local and national businesses, Blendon parents, and the Blendon PTO.
