At the October 13 meeting of the Westerville City Schools Board of Education, two students were recognized – Emma Rennie and Brice Wilson.

Rennie received accolades for having received Ohio’s Nicholas Green Distinguished Student Award, which was presented by the Ohio Association for Gifted Children.  Honorees were selected for demonstrating excellence and outstanding accomplishment in visual or performing arts, academic achievement, or leadership.  Rennie was a student at Heritage Middle School last year when she was nominated by her teacher, Debbie Pellington.  She now attends Genoa.

Wilson, a member of the Walnut Springs Middle School Fishing Club, won first place in the 11-15 year old division at the 2014 Ohio Junior Bass Federation State Tournament.  He will represent the State of Ohio at the 2015 FLW/TBF World Championship Youth Tournament in Little Rock, Arkansas next August.  He was presented by teacher and Fishing Club advisor Dwight Back.
