Families came out in droves to pack Whittier Elementary School on Friday evening, October 10, for the annual Fall Festival.  The popular event, sponsored by the PTA, featured food and fun.  High school students and parent volunteers manned a number of games, which were played in the gymnasium, where attendees could also have their fingernails and face painted and their hair sprayed with bright colors.  A magician was on hand to entertain, as was a balloon artist, who created animals and hats to wear.  Food and drinks were sold, and a raffle was conducted, thanks to generous donations from businesses in the community.  All proceeds benefited the PTA for the funding of school projects.  New this year was a festive display of creatively decorated pumpkins.  Each grade level was responsible for providing one, and tickets could be purchased for the right to vote on a favorite.  The fifth grade entry won, and they donated their cash award to the James Cancer Hospital.
