Jean Trimble, media specialist at Walnut Springs Middle School, has been named Innovation Space Leader for the Westerville City School District.  Her responsibilities will include, among other things, helping to coordinate the Fab Lab and District Maker Movement; developing and leading professional learning opportunities for staff; developing and facilitating summer learning opportunities for students; facilitating projects; and serving as Otterbein liaison.  In this new, 11-month administrative position, Trimble will report to Career Tech and College Readiness Coordinator Anne Baldwin.

Trimble served as media specialist at Pointview and Robert Frost elementary schools from 2011-2012.  Prior to joining Westerville City Schools, she was a customer service specialist at the Columbus Metropolitan Library.  From 1997 to 2001, she was assistant to the vice president of project controls for the Black and Veatch Power Division in Overland Park, Kansas.

Trimble earned a Masters of Education degree in Instructional Technology with a School Library Media Specialist endorsement from Kent State University.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Webster University in Kansas City, Missouri.

This appointment is part of Superintendent Dr. John Kellogg’s ongoing efforts to support classroom instruction and improve student achievement across the district.  In February, due to a resignation in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction, he announced that he would use the vacant position to restructure and provide more support to specific grades.  Dr. Jennifer Knapp, who had been directing the implementation of curriculum and instruction at all grade levels, next year will focus on middle and high schools as Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction. Whittier Elementary Principal Cheryl Relford has been named the district’s new Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction.  She will focus on specific needs at the kindergarten through fifth grade levels.
