On March 16, Cherrington Elementary School hosted the second annual Westerville Elementary Chess Tournament. More than 90 students participated from eight elementary schools. Pupils competed individually and as teams. All contestants played hard and showed great character and sportsmanship during the five consecutive rounds. Cherrington took first place in both the k - 3 and 4 - 5 sections. Emerson, Hanby, and Mark Twain elementary schools walked away with second and third place trophies.
