A huge sign greeted visitors to Cherrington’s 50th birthday party, where they enjoyed eating cake, reminiscing and perusing old yearbooks and historical documents and photos.  Lower right, current Cherrington kindergarten teachers Katie Flaiz and Denise Leach are pictured with the original kindergarten teacher from 1968, Mary Menke.  They are posing in front of the newly completed clay mural, which graces the front hall.

Community members gathered on Friday evening, September 14, at Cherrington Elementary School for a 50th Birthday Celebration.  The event featured refreshments, singing, face painting, a raffle, time capsule, and a trip down Memory Lane through old yearbooks and memorabilia that were on display throughout the building.  Hundreds of former and current students and staff filled the halls to reminisce.  Principal Andy Heck thanked everyone who worked so hard to make the celebration a success, saying, “This was a terrific party.”
