A number of Westerville City Schools students have won coveted spots to attend and compete at the National Invention and Entrepreneurship Expo, which will be held in spring of 2019 at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan. Winners were selected at the 2018 Ohio Invention Convention & Entrepreneurship Competition, which took place on Sunday, July 29, at the Ohio State Fair. Westerville pupils moving on to the national contest are:
- Kacee Bohan, Mark Twain Elementary School, McGraw Hill Education Award (Industry and Edison Award), Pencil Partner;
- Avamarie Hedrick, Emerson Elementary School, Fourth Grade Second Place, The Slug Plug;
- Jack Monahan and Zach Rogers, Heritage Middle School, the Honda Transportation/Financial Infrastructure Award (Industry and Edison Award), The Desk Express;
