Westerville City Schools will host a Magnet Fair for each program strand on Tuesday, March 7. Hanby will have an open house and tour from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at 56 South State Street.  Emerson will have an open house and tour from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at 44 North Vine Street.  During the Magnet Fair and Open House, families will have the opportunity to learn about the three program options available.  There will be displays providing a visual for each program, as well as staff members available to answer questions.  The schools will be open for families to take a self-guided tour of each building.

The Magnet Program consists of three options:  Math/Science, World Cultures, and Arts. Emerson Elementary School will continue to host the World Cultures program, while Hanby Elementary will continue to host the Arts program and the Math/Science program.

Magnet Program applications will become available and accepted from February 21 through March 17, 2017.  This year the application will continue to be available for completion online. The application process does not use a first come, first served approach.  All applications, as long as they are received by the deadline, will be processed identically.  The district, on April 13, will complete the random selection of applications to fill program seats in grade 1 for the 2017-18 school year.  Parents whose children will be in the second, third, fourth or fifth grade next year also may submit a Magnet application, if interested.  These applications will be included in the random selection process and used to fill any potential vacancies in the program at those grade levels.  Applications will identify one program choice, and they will retain the right to refuse any seat that is offered as a result of the random selection process.  Notifications will be sent on April 28, 2017, to all Magnet Program applicants to inform them of their status.  For further updates, please visit www.wcsoh.org/magnet.
