Each month, students and staff at the Academic Enrichment Center (AEC) in the Westerville Schools celebrate fun and perhaps unusual national days of celebration.  With more than 1,500 National Days, National Weeks, and National Months to choose from, it can actually be difficult to choose just a few each year!

During the month of November, on the 28th, students enjoyed celebrating National French Toast Day.  French toast, prepared and served by the culinary talents of Adam Rex, Educational Options for Success (EOS) Program Coordinator/ School Counselor and Dr. Scott Ebbrecht, Director of Assessment of Alternative Education Services, was a wonderful way to start the school day.  Future national days to be celebrated at the AEC are:

  • Thurs, Dec. 13 – National Ice Cream Day
  • Tues, Jan. 15 – National Hat Day
  • Wed, Feb. 6 – National Frozen Yogurt Day
  • Thurs, March 14 – National Potato Chip Day
  • Fri, April 12 – National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day
  • Wed, May 15 – National Chocolate Chip Day

For the past 18 years, the award-winning EOS Program has served students who have become, for many different reasons, disenfranchised from the traditional high school experience.  At the AEC, the primary objective for each student is to facilitate successful school completion and develop skills to be successful within the school and community environments they will face upon their transition from the program.  The vast majority of students at EOS earn their high school diploma, as well as leave very well prepared for what comes next in terms of college and/or a career.
