Westerville City Schools partnered with the Westerville Education Foundation (WEF) and the Dick & Jane Project to bring an exciting opportunity to middle school students. Lyrical Westerville 2017 is the tremendous result and can be seen and heard at: https://youtu.be/IGHWlUGjey4 . (Be sure to turn up your volume!) “It all started with a grant from the Westerville Education Foundation,” said Jean Trimble, Lyrical Westerville coordinator and Walnut Springs Librarian. The Dick & Jane Project connects middle school students with professional music producers to create radio-ready songs. Pupils write the lyrics for the song and guide its artistic direction. The producers collaborate with them in order to synthesize these ideas into a professionally produced song.
WEF provides grants for innovative classroom projects like this in Westerville Schools and is funded entirely through community support.
