The Westerville Area Chamber congratulates the 2019 Westerville Scholarship Foundation recipients.  The six outstanding high school seniors who won the scholarships were selected from more than 120 applications.  These scholarships are made possible by the Westerville Area Chamber and the Westerville Scholarship Foundation, which is a charitable 501c3 part of the Westerville Chamber.  Each student will receive a $1,500 scholarship that will help support them as they continue their quest for higher education.  Scholarship recipients are:

  • Tuyen Quan, Westerville South High School;
  • Christina Himes, Westerville South High School;
  • Allison Saas, Westerville Central High School;
  • Grace Beeba, Westerville North High School;
  • Peter Moore, Westerville Parochial School; and
  • Alice Rice, Westerville Technical School.

These students, along with many others, completed an application, which included a letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor.  They were also responsible for writing an essay in which they were to describe involvement with community activities, personal strengths and future goals and objectives.  Also incorporated into the essay were reasons why pupils felt the Foundation should award them the scholarship.  Applications were considered based on involvement in extracurricular activities, need, and volunteerism/community involvement.

The funds for these scholarships and others the Foundation awards come from events the Chamber of Commerce and partnering organizations host during the year, including the Community Bowl-A-Thon in February.  Scholarship winners were recognized at the Chamber’s Quarterly Luncheon held on Tuesday, March 12, at the Medallion Country Club.
