Westerville City Schools students in grades 5-12, who play the drums or want to learn, are cordially invited to join the new Westerville Drum Club.  Group lessons will provide pupils with instruction from professional educators at a “cost that can’t be beat.”  The program will take place in the Westerville South High School Band Room, which is located at 303 South Otterbein Avenue.

The first four-week Fall Session will be held each Thursday from October 25 through November 15.  The second Fall Session will be held each Thursday from November 29 to December 20.  Cost is $80, which will be collected at the first meeting.

Musicians will be divided into two groups.  Group 1, Introduction to Rudimental Drumming, is for students in grades 5-8 and will be held from 7:00 to 7:50 p.m.  It is designed for students who are in their first two years of formal instruction, but need or want more tools.  Time will be spent on developing technique, reading music, and developing good practice habits.

Group 2, Maximizing Your Skills, is for pupils in grades 8-12.  It will take place from 8:00 – 8:50 p.m.  This class is for the student who has developed the concept of technique and has a good understanding of how to read music and the basic rudiments.  Focus will be on advanced techniques and music designed to challenge in new ways.  It will move at a much faster pace and will help youngsters develop a positive daily routine.
