The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding students who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of “Service Above Self.”  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members.

Westerville South sophomore Michael Mansaray, who holds a 3.87 GPA, enjoys studying math and English.  He is a running back and safety for the Wildcat football team.  He also participates in track and field.  Mansaray has been on the Honor Roll for four quarters and has received academic and athletic recognition.  He helped with his school’s Black History program last year, and was also named a Cat with Class.

DeSales senior Diana Brown, a 4.308 GPA student, likes calculus and chemistry.  She is the National Honor Society President, and is active in the Future Medical Professions Club, Student Council, the volleyball team, Corral for the Kids and the Autism Awareness Club.  She has volunteered at Rotary’s Fish Fry, has served at the Harris Askins House Christmas party, has collected canned goods for holiday food drives, and serves as a tutor.  Her academic and athletic awards are numerous.  Brown will attend the University of Illinois next year to study Biochemistry in order to prepare for a career in the medical field.
