A large crowd gathered in the Westerville North High School Atrium on Wednesday afternoon, May 10, to bear witness and celebrate as friends Liam-Rhys Alicardi and Macguire George signed Letters of Intent to continue their education and participate in athletics at the collegiate level.

Alicardi will be attending Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio, to wrestle under National Wrestling Hall of Fame member Coach Dock Kelly.  As a team co-captain, Alicardi led the Division I Warriors to their first appearance at the Team State Wrestling Duals in 2017, as well as the school’s first Regional Championship and three consecutive OCC District and Sectional Championships.  He earned the 2017 Varsity Courage Award for most upsets and received OCC All-League team honors in 2016 and 2017.  He is coached by David Grant and Todd Coulter.  Alicardi also enjoys coaching youth wrestling and photography.

George, also known as “Big Mac,” has played baseball since he was five years old.  While growing up, he played on several travel teams and at the elite level.  This pitcher is a three-year letter winner in baseball at Westerville North, who is grateful for the guidance he received from North’s coaching staff and Otterbein Coach John Lacorte.  He also earned two letters in wrestling, under the tutelage of Coach David Grant.  George, a scholar athlete, will continue his academic and baseball career at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio.  Coaches there expressed enthusiasm about his abilities.  He looks forward to playing college baseball and to continue developing his skills on the mound.
