The Rotary Club of Westerville, which sponsors a Student of the Month program, recognized recipients at a luncheon at Villa Milano held on Thursday, May 4.  May students are Jacoby Maze, Westerville Central High School; John Hord, Westerville North High School; and Jeriel Adarquah Yiadom, Westerville South High School.

The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding students who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of “Service Above Self.”  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members.

Jacoby Maze, a junior at Westerville Central, holds a 4.3 grade point average (GPA).  Honors Physics and AP English Language are his favorite subjects of study.  Maze, a member of the National Honor Society, is also a junior mentor.  He is a scholar athlete in both baseball and basketball and is active in Young Life.  He wants to attend the Fischer School of Business at The Ohio State University.

Language Arts and Math are Jeriel Yiadom’s favorite subjects at Westerville South High School.  This eleventh grade student holds a 4.3 GPA.  He participates in football and track, plays in the symphony orchestra, enjoys piano, is a member of the National Honor Society, and is an International Baccalaureate candidate.  He also volunteers at the Faith Klinic Food Pantry.  Yiadom is a scholar athlete who has earned a number of varsity letters.  He aspires to major in Engineering or Psychology at Sanford, the Air Force Academy, Davidson or Notre Dame.
