April 25 was an important day for two Westerville North High School senior athletes. That is when Leah Stamos and Kaylee Joseph signed Letters of Intent to compete at the collegiate level in softball and bowling, respectively.
Stamos will play softball next year at Otterbein University. As a four-year varsity starter, she excelled both on and off the field. She received Scholar Athlete awards each year during her high school career, and continues to make academics a priority. Stamos has especially enjoyed the experiences with her travel team during the past seven years, Central Ohio Ice, coached by Jay Broyles. Other recognitions include OCC Special Mention, OCC 3rd team and OCC 2nd team.
Joseph will bowl for Urbana University. She took up the sport in 2007 when she moved to Ohio and by 2011, she won the State Pepsi Tournament and the State Adult Youth Tournament. She advanced to the BACO International Family Tournament, where she won $2,000 in scholarship money. In high school, she attained the highest three-game score ever recorded, with a 696 series in a District tournament. Joseph has been awarded All OCC honors during each year of high school; was All Ohio in her junior year, placing 10th in the State Championships; and was first in All Conference and second in Central Ohio during her senior year. She has bowled in the Junior Gold Tournament, National Youth Tournaments, Junior Bowler Association and Future Stars tournaments and Youth Bowling leagues. She is coached by Ron Hatfield and her uncle Duane
