Westerville North High School is pleased to announce Bev Koenig as this year’s selection for the State Award for Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity from the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). The outlined guidelines for selection for the award call for a person who:
- Continually exemplifies good sportsmanship;
- Is a positive role model for others;
- Reflects a high level of ethics and integrity in dealing with students and the interscholastic athletic programs;
- Supports and demonstrates positive values; and
- Has contributed to the well-being of the youth of the local high school.
Koenig was specifically selected for the numerous volunteer hours she has spent throughout the school year providing Math help to students who sought extra support or were identified as at risk of not passing their Math class or even potentially not graduating. She has worked hard to build a relationship with her students and it is this mutual respect and trust that allows her to help them solve not only academic obstacles, but personal ones as well.
