Westerville North High School junior Megan Harris has received the Achievement in Writing Award from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).

According to NCTE, this national recognition was established in 1957 to encourage high school students in their writing and to publicly recognize some of the best student writers in the nation.

This year, more than 500 juniors were nominated by their schools to participate in the 2016 competition by their high schools.

After being nominated, students complete an essay on a topic chosen by NCTE.  They also must submit a best writing sample.  Their work was evaluated by national judges on content, purpose, audience, tone word choice, organization, development and style.

Along with Megan, only 10 other students in Ohio received this distinct honor.  For her work, Megan received a certificate of recognition from NCTE.
