In honor of Women’s History Month, Westerville North High School has established a building-wide initiative inviting all teachers in all disciplines to find a way to honor important women in their classes.

Natalie Schaublin’s computer class created posters highlighting important women which are now on display in a showcase in the front lobby, along with other interesting and decorative information.  Art teacher Melanie Celello and six students from her Art Club helped English teacher Amy Birtcher create the display.  The Young Feminist Club, sponsored by English teacher Kim Swensen, has also worked to create profiles of important women to be read on the morning announcements.  Young Feminist student leader Dion Mensa created trivia questions which will be posted on the announcements alternating with the profiles.

On Friday, March 11, the Young Feminists are sponsoring a Film Festival as well.  He Named Me Malala, a documentary about Noble Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, will be shown in the North Media Center after school.  The film festival is free and open to all students, staff and parents of the district.  Free snacks will be provided.
