Westerville North High School pupil T’jai Martin represented her school and the State of Ohio at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston in June. During the Congress, students watched a live surgery and were given time to question the surgeon. At the event, Martin and other students were was also taught by distinguished professionals including Nobel Prize winners in Physiology and Medicine; winners of the Lasker Award; the Director of the National Institute of Health; and recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and National Medal of Science. She was mentored by the Dean of Medical Education at Georgetown University and Bohdan Pomahac, a Harvard University Medical School Professor and Director of the Burn and Plastic Surgery Transplantation Centers.
Martin received an Award of Excellence from the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists praising her outstanding academic performance, leadership potential, and dedication to serving humanity through the profession of medicine.
