A film created by seniors in Jodie Brown’s ESL Cultural Studies class at Westerville Central High School has been selected for screening at the Ohio Shorts Festival.  Of 245 entries, just 21 films were chosen for viewing.

Brown’s pupils completed their Capstone project, as part of their graduation requirement, on their experience of writing to state representatives about the importance of alternate pathways for second language learners.  They both advocated for themselves and made a short film about it, called The Graduates.  The film can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/324214070 (Password: usa).

Ohio Shorts will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, in the Film/Video Theater at the Wexner Center, which is located at 1871 North High Street in Columbus.  A Jury Award ($500) and Audience Choice Award ($300) will be announced at the reception that follows the screening.  Each entry selected for the showcase will receive a $50 screening fee in the form of a check on the night of the screening.  Tickets cost $5 and the event usually sells out.
