Westerville City Schools teachers gathered in the Board Training Room at the Early Learning Center on Thursday afternoon, April 4, to take a Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching (CLR) class, featuring speakers representing Latin America, Somalia, Nepal, and Eritrea. Educators met throughout the school year to learn about the many cultures reflected in the district. The CLR class was co-taught by Latresa Rieves, Elementary ESL Facilitator, and Kate Mantenieks, Elementary ELA/Social Studies Curriculum Specialist. Panelists and teachers indicated they had an “amazing time” and expressed appreciation for the “great discourse.”
