On October 3 and 4, 2018, volleyball teams from Genoa Middle School and Westerville Central High School joined forces for a two-day Volley for the Cure fundraising event.  Through bake sales, a 50-50 Split the Pot, and a gift card raffle, the Jaguars and Warhawks were able to raise $750 for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.  On Monday, February 4, OSU representative Erika Beasley dropped by Central to accept the generous check.

Since the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the OSUCCC-James was founded in 1998, thousands of individuals, corporations and charitable foundations have entrusted their philanthropic dollars to the fund.  In addition, the Spielman Fund has raised a significant amount of awareness and support through the community via fundraisers and community partners.  When Stefanie and Chris Spielman founded the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, they set out with what they thought was an ambitious goal to raise $250,000.  To date, the Spielman Fund has climbed to more than $22 million dollars with 100 percent of proceeds being used solely for breast cancer research at The James.  Learn more at https://cancer.osu.edu/giving-back/special-funds/stefanie-spielman-fund-for-breast-cancer-research
