One of the darkest musicals ever written, Sweeney Todd is the unsettling tale of a Victorian-era barber who returns home to London after 15 years of exile to take revenge on the corrupt judge who ruined his life.  When revenge eludes him, Todd swears vengeance on the entire human race, murdering as many people as he can, while his business associate, Mrs. Lovett, bakes the bodies into meat pies and sells them to the unsuspecting public.

Westerville Central thespians will perform Sweeney Todd School Edition (for mature audiences only) at 7:00 p.m. on January 25 and 26 and at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27.  Ethan Zink has been cast in the role of Sweeney Todd; Lauren Tucker will play Mrs. Lovett; Katherine Ganobsik will portray Johanna; and Jacob Miller is Anthony.  Derryck Menard directs and Stephanie Matushoneck serves as producer.  Tickets cost $10 each and can be purchased at https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/6442.  Be advised that some seating will be partially on stage in the “splash zone” and that one audience member during each performance may end up being one of Todd’s victims!
