On June 25, the Westerville City Schools Board of Education and Superintendent John Kellogg recognized Westerville South High School student athlete Rehoboth Ogundare as state runner-up in the Division 1 pole vault competition.  He earned a silver medal at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on June 2 by clearing 15 feet 2 inches, a remarkable eight inches higher than he had jumped all year.  Coaches Jimmy Hull and Jimmy Gaul were also lauded.

Westerville Central junior Lyssa Zepfel was honored for her performance at that same meet, where she won an astonishing three silver medals in the seated division, completing 100 meters in 22.07 seconds; 400 meters in 1:28.01; and 800 meters in 3:14.38.  Her coach, Ryan Borland, was acknowledged as well.

Assistant Treasurer Laura Hendricks was praised for her service as Pro-Tem Treasurer.  From November 20, 2017, until July 1, 2018, Hendricks successfully oversaw the daily duties and responsibilities required of the Treasurer’s Department, tackling additional tasks with vigor and competence.  She received a Resolution of Commendation for ensuring that during the search for a new Treasurer, the educational process at Westerville City Schools continued without interruption for all students and staff.  She was thanked for her professionalism and dedication.
