An OSU medical student observes Shayla (fictitious patient) learn why she should get her Hepatitis B vaccine from her (doctor), Marie, during a skit.

Ohio State University medical students visited Westerville Central’s Columbus State Health Pathway and AP Biology students to present the Live Healthy Hep Free program (LHHF).  Pupils learned about the symptoms, prevention, vaccination/treatments and Hep B’s alarming link to liver cancer.  Several students had the opportunity to participate in skits working through conversations about Hep B and utilizing their newly gained knowledge.  Pupils enjoyed the presentation – especially winning candy and flash drives for answering questions correctly.  In addition, each student was asked to share information about Hepatitis B with their parents and have them fill out a questionnaire about the disease.  The hope is that Central students can be LHHF ambassadors and help spread the word about this preventable disease.
