Ohio Governor John R. Kasich proclaimed January 2018 as School Board Recognition Month in the state.  The Ohio School Board Association’s theme this year is “School boards lead so students can achieve.”  Board members in the Westerville City School District are Richard Bird, Gerrie Cotter, Tracy Davidson, Dr. Nancy Nestor-Baker and Rev. Rick Vilardo.  Each received a Certificate of Appreciation at the Regular Session on January 8, when Davidson, Nestor-Baker and Vilardo were sworn in for another term in office.  At that same meeting, Cotter was elected President for 2018 and Davidson was chosen to serve as Vice-President.

School Board Recognition Month honors the members of Ohio’s more than 700 city, exempted village, local and joint vocational boards of education and educational service centers governing boards for their commitment to providing quality public education to Ohio’s schoolchildren.

“Our Board members unselfishly contribute their time and talents toward the advancement of public education in Westerville,” said Superintendent John Kellogg.  “Even though we are making a special effort during January to show our appreciation, we recognize their contributions reflect a year-round commitment on their part.  We are grateful for their service.”
