Westerville Central High School (WCHS) Athletic Director Andy Ey today announced that Brent Morrison has been selected as Head Coach of the school’s Varsity Football Program, pending Board of Education approval this month.
Morrison has been an assistant coach with the program since 2005, most recently serving as Offensive Coordinator and developing the team’s quarterback and offensive line talent. According to Ey, Morrison rose to the top following an in-depth process to identify the varsity program’s next Head Coach.
“We conducted an extensive search process, which resulted in the thorough screening of more than 40 applicants for the position,” explained Ey. “Our interview team, which was comprised of me, Principal Tom Lanier and members of the Westerville Central community, interviewed four candidates. From that group of excellent coaches, Brent separated himself as the clear-cut choice to lead our program.”
Under Morrison’s leadership as Offensive Coordinator, WCHS teams have compiled a combined record of 54 wins and 24 losses, won three Ohio Capital Conference titles, made four state playoff appearances, and averaged 31 points per game. Prior to joining WCHS, he also served as an Assistant Coach with the Dublin Jerome High School and Reynoldsburg High School football programs.
Morrison has taught Social Studies at WCHS since 2005 and in 2015 was named the VFW Educator of the Year. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Capital University in Columbus, OH, and his Masters of Education from Northcentral University in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
