Principal Todd Spinner, guest musician with the Westerville Central Symphonic Band, garnered rave reviews for nailing his performance on the cymbals.

On Wednesday evening, May 3, concertgoers at Westerville Central High School were treated to a rare, one-time-only performance by the Westerville Central Symphonic Band, featuring Principal Todd Spinner on cymbals.  The longtime principal was invited to perform on Henry Fillmore’s Go Gallop.  Along with the 20 senior musicians, The Westerville Central Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Concert Bands said goodbye to their beloved leader who “has been a tireless supporter of music at Westerville Central and will be missed.”  Spinner has accepted a position in the Olentangy School District and will leave Westerville at the end of this school year.  “It was an honor to be able to perform with such a talented group of Warhawk students,” he said.

In addition, that evening, the John Phillip Sousa Band Award was presented to senior Reid Robichaud and senior Sarah Hickey earned the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and National School Orchestra Award.  Concert Band and Symphonic director is Doug Hildreth; Jazz Band and Orchestra director is John Vermeulen.
