The Westerville Education Foundation (WEF) named three educators Teacher of the Month for April – Kim Glaser, Mark Twain Elementary School; Melissa Milan, Blendon Middle School; and Eric Nickel, Westerville Central High School.

Glaser is described by her nominator as caring and energetic. “What has really inspired me about Kim Glaser is her energy and attention to detail with each student.  She knows exactly where they are and where they need help,” describes her nominator.  By playing to her students’ strengths, she empowers them and gives them opportunities to grow in other areas.  “My daughter will come home talking about 3D printable objects, and social media safety and etiquette.  I love that she is being taught at school (not just at home) about being kind on social media and that what is typed out there is permanent and lasting.”  Her nominator concludes by saying, “She goes above and beyond to make new kids feel comfortable and welcomed.”

Milan is described by her nominator as kind and compassionate.  “She encourages [my son’s] passions and tries to incorporate them into her lessons,” her nominator said.  Milan works with her students to ensure that they see positive changes not only in the classroom, but outside of the school as well.  “Since having her, my son has just come out of his shell… She goes out of her way to make sure he succeeds in school and in life.”  Her nominator concludes by saying, “She is an amazing teacher and an extraordinary human being.”

Nickel is described by his nominator as supportive and impactful.  “Mr. Nickel has impacted both of my children’s life in a way that is indescribable,” says his nominator.  Nickel instills confidence in his students so they can reach their goals and keep moving in a positive direction. “He gave my children hope, found creative ways to teach my children, and has helped them succeed.”  His nominator concludes by saying, “Mr. Nickel loves what he does and is a true inspiration to my children and I.”
