Genoa Township police officers greeted Westerville Central High School students bright and early on Thursday morning, April 21, with an important message about staying safe during the upcoming prom. Students were asked to sign a pledge agreeing to make good decisions, avoid alcohol and drugs, wear a seat belt, and never drive under the influence or ride with an impaired driver. They were promoting communication between students and parents regarding potentially destructive decisions related to alcohol, drugs, peer pressure and behavior. Each pupil who signed the pledge received a flier with ideas for staying safe, a Westerville Central wrist band, and food coupons donated by local vendors.
Safety during prom season is a common theme at all Westerville high schools, with various activities taking place to remind pupils to make wise choices.
