Westerville Central’s Noah Martin Takes Second in State Poetry Out Loud Contest

Westerville Central’s Noah Martin is shown competing in the State Poetry Out Loud contest.

 

 

Noah Martin, a sophomore at Westerville Central High School, placed second in the State of Ohio Poetry Out Loud contest held on Saturday, March 19.  Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation contest.  Martin competed in the state finals at COSI, reciting In Flanders Fields by John McCrae in round 1.  In round 2, he recited John Straley’s poem Every Single Day.  Martin was one of six students chosen to recite a third poem; he chose Grief by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. 

Martin was one of twelve Ohio high school students to advance to the State Finals.  He won a cash prize as well as money for the purchase of poetry books at the Westerville Central library.  Martin is coached by Amy Farris, Scott Paynter, Jim Grannis, and Bridget Cargin.
