The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, will be performed at Westerville Central High School at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31; and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1.  Tickets cost $6.  Central’s Director of Theatre is Megan Corbin.

Winner of the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play, this riveting drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem is both a gripping historical play and timely parable of our contemporary society.  The story focuses on a young farmer, his wife, and a young servant-girl who maliciously causes the wife’s arrest for witchcraft.  The farmer brings the girl to court to admit the lie and it is there that the monstrous course of bigotry and deceit is terrifyingly depicted.  The farmer, instead of saving his wife, finds himself also accused of witchcraft as this chilling plot unfolds and the powers of hysteria, deceit, and betrayal wreak havoc on the Puritan society.  The play is rated PG-13 with some elements not suitable for very young children.
