High School Battle of the Bands Blood Drive Nets 70 Units for Red Cross

For the past three years, Westerville North High School’s marching band has worked with the American Red Cross to host a Bleed for the Band Blood Drive.  This summer, after they invited their sister schools (Central and South) to join them in a competition, the Battle of the Bands Blood Drive was born.  To make the contest even more enticing, each booster group contributed $100 and an additional $300 was collected in outside donations.  The school with the most usable units collected will win half of the “pot,” or $300.  The second place school will walk away with $200 and third place competitors will receive $100.  Winners will be announced shortly, but the real victor is the Red Cross and the hundreds of lives the 70 units of blood collected will save.   Organizers are hoping to make this an annual event between the marching bands and continue “friendly competition” while helping a very worthy cause.
