Welcome to Walnut Springs and sixth grade social studies! I am looking forward to an exciting 2014-2015 school year! In our social studies class, we will be learning about and exploring the many countries and cultures that surround us. We will take our geographic knowledge to explore and analyze civilizations from the past and present and the connections between those civlizations. The following information, along with your Parent/Student Handbook, is your guide to success in the sixth grade at Walnut Springs.
On this webpage you will find announcements, SS Weekly Targets, daily assignments, online textbook information and information about our 6th grade SS class. You can find these specific documents by using the "My Classrooms" found on the left sidebar of this page. You will click on your period class and then navigate from there.

Below is our 6th Grade Social Studies textbook! We have a class set of these that remain at school and students will have online access. I will introduce students to the textbook soon and how to access their book from any computer with internet access. Look for more information to come about McGraw Hill Apps available for Apple and PC based products, which enables you to access the book without an internet connection and parent and student learning connections to the New Ohio Standards.

From here, you will want to go to your BLUE "TO DO" BOX and there you will find EDay Lesson 2 which will tell you to:
You will need to select The Textbook from the top then select Chapter 11 Lesson 1 from the top Menu Bar, which discusses the physical geography of East Asia. This is part of the region we have been covering in our WGS Eastern Hemisphere Magazine. You will want to relate as much as you can of the physical geography to the lives of the people living in the region. There is an assigned Guided Reading that you can submit electronically or print it out and submit in hard or paper copy.
