Join the student cast and crew from the WCS Summer Enrichment theatre program for their virtual production of “She Kills Monsters,” an ode to the fantasy role-playing world of Dungeons & Dragons.

The program’s first-ever virtual production has three showings via Zoom:

  • 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 11

  • 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 12

  • 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, July 13

The play, which addresses issues of bullying, identity and loss, was written by Ohio native and Ohio University alumnus Qui Nguyen. He adapted his 2017 hit play to a virtual environment.

Rather than performing live, the students assembled via Zoom and were prerecorded and edited to film. What makes this experience unique is the opportunity for audience members to engage with the cast and crew as they watch the productions. Students will be on hand to answer questions, comment live and talk to viewers before and after the show.

The play tackles mild adult themes and is recommended for ages 13 and up.

Tickets can be purchased online with prices based on donations per household. Those who buy a ticket will be sent a Zoom link to the livestream of the production.

This year, 30 students from the high schools and two middle schools are part of the WCS Summer Enrichment program. Students earn credits toward graduation for their work and involvement in the production. Donations from this summer’s production will support next year’s program.
