The Westerville Summer Theatre Enrichment program will kick off its second season with the musical Legally Blonde. Any Westerville City School District student currently in 7th through 12th grade is invited to audition for a role in the production. All levels of interest and ability are encouraged to apply.

Based on the Amanda Brown novel and 2001 movie of the same name, Legally Blonde hit the stage in 2007 as a musical, featuring original songs by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin. Audience members experience the life of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls in college to win back her ex-boyfriend, only to discover how her knowledge of the law can actually help others. No one has faith in Elle, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.

Students interested in auditioning may register at https://tinyurl.com/WCSSummer2020Audition. Director Matt Wolfe will confirm audition times after April 1, 2020, via the email address applicants provide on the interest form. Please note that middle school students attending the Washington D.C. trip will be able to arrange for alternate auditions prior to leaving.

Financial contributions are being accepted to help offset production costs, operating supplies, and scholarships. Additional details, as well an electronic form to make a donation, are available online at https://tinyurl.com/WCSSummer2020Theatre. Any size donation is appreciated and supports the theatre department’s ability to continue this newly-established tradition for our district and community well into the future (Legally Blonde poster download).
