Students and staff enjoy the year’s successes.
As a celebration for the spirit of volunteerism and to enjoy newfound friendships, a pizza lunch was held on Friday, May 3 at Walnut Springs Middle School. Nine Walnut Springs students spent time helping and getting to know some very special young people under the guidance of teacher Patrick Quinn; aids Denise Campbell, Brandi Tish, and Melody Tolle; and assistive physical therapist Connie Craigmile.
Volunteers included sixth grader Nora Carden; seventh graders Jayci Kacsandi, Daniel Dewey, Katie Lovelace, Mabel Cumming-Vukovic, Anthony Cohen, Anila Palmer, and Sophia Wright; and eighth grader Izzy Williams.
The evaluations from this pilot program between the gifted education and special education departments support its continuation for next year. The strong sense of community, acceptance and friendship left lasting impressions on all who were involved.
