Some 200 families woke up early to celebrate their student and enjoy breakfast in the Walnut Springs Middle School gymnasium on Friday morning, February 22.  The Pastries for PAWS celebration was created to honor students who help make the school a productive learning environment every day.  Pupils were recognized for being Positive, Accountable, Willing, and Safe members of the Walnut Springs community.

Staff members nominated a youngster who makes their day for the Pastries for PAWS award. Each family then received a personalized invitation, explaining the good choices their child makes every day, and the positive qualities they believe help to make Walnut a wonderful place. Students were encouraged to bring their families to share a light pastry breakfast with their nominating teacher and other award recipients.

This year’s celebration marked the fourth year for the event, and set a record for the number of pupils recognized.  School Counselor Sherri Pastiva organized the program, and Kroger, Panera, and Schneider’s Bakery provided food for the breakfast.
