The Middle School Bowling Club lasts eight weeks in the winter.

For the past four years, middle school students who get restless during the long, cold months of winter have been given a wonderful outlet to burn off some energy and meet new friends.  The popular Middle School Bowling Club meets for eight weeks, beginning on the first Friday in January, at Sequoia Lanes.  It was the brainchild of three Westerville schoolteachers – Maria Soisson and Kim Neal (Walnut Springs), and Cynthia Shimovetz (Blendon).  Students pay a $100 fee and trophies are awarded to top bowlers at the end of the season.  The Middle School Bowling Club started as a way to introduce pupils to the sport.  It has also provided them with an opportunity to interact with peers from other schools.
