The first annual Walnut Springs Ping Pong tournament was held on Friday, October 13.  Sponsored by the Walnut Springs PTSA, the tournament featured 33 players who played several rounds in their respective brackets, with the top two advancing to the finals and earning the chance to win a golden paddle.  After very competitive semi and final matches, Zach Prenoveau was crowned winner for 6th grade; Cori Bohan for 7th grade; and Owen DeTemple for 8th grade. The overall ping-pong champion was math teacher Steven Chandler, who dominated every match and showed his skills extend well beyond teaching Algebra.

In addition to Chandler, several teachers and administrators came ready to play and support the event, including Ernest Clinkscale, Tammy Medovich, and Phil Carney.  Organizers also thanked the Westerville North High School boys and girls tennis teams, who donated their time and expertise, as well as the many fans that came to support the event.  All are looking forward to next year’s tournament.
