Walnut Springs 7th grade Advanced Language Arts students perform their Reader’s Theater presentation at Barnes & Noble.

As part of the 7th grade Advanced Language Arts class taught by Tammy Saltzmann, Walnut Springs students created their own Reader’s Theater scripts based on different themes of the novels they have read.  Poetry, non-fiction, student writing, and lyrics were brought in to complement each novel’s theme.  From there, the script was woven together.  Simple props, choreography, and shared voices gave added emphasis to enhance the script and the presentation of the written works.

The project was supported by the Westerville City Schools Gifted Education Department.  Organizers thanked Barnes & Noble Booksellers at Polaris Fashion Place who, on May 16, shared their stage with the pupils and also facilitated a book fair for the school.
